E TA left this review about The Saxon Arms

A relatively new building, only about 20 years old, but built in the style of the region, thatched and stone, so fits nicely into the village. It's close to the main Dorchester road, but it's a quiet, pleasant location. There is plenty of parking, and there's outside seating although the garden area isn't huge. Inside, there is a single large bar, rectangular in shape. Most of it has flag floors, and there is a stone fireplace at one end. The other end is carpeted, fake structural timbers on display, an eclectic mix of furniture that makes it feel a bit like a Women's Institute jumble sale, but overall it's pleasant and comfortable. Food is very good, but it's not that cheap, and ale prices are at the high end of average. The staff were friendly and helpful, the beer was in good condition. Six handpumps on the bar, but only two ales on, plus First Press cider. The ales were Butcombe Original and TT Landlord, both in very good condition. A very useful pitstop, and somewhere I shall visit gain.
