E TA left this review about The Avon Causeway Inn

Originally a private railway station, it closed in 1935 and was derelict until it was converted into a pub and hotel in the 1970s, many years after the railway line had stopped running. It is now run by Wadworths. A portion of the track still remains next to the station platform and now has a restored Pullman carriage (No 340, if you are interested) and shunting engine sitting on it which the pub uses as a function room. As you enter the carpark from the sideroad (the former station approach) there is a shortlived feeling that you might be entering a caravan site, not helped by the pub signs which have a hint of 'trainspotterness' about them, but this is dispelled with a pleasant surprise when you see the pub itself. There is a large non-smoking garden at the back, while smokers use a smaller covered outdoor terrace at the side. The station rooms ramble and form various bars, dining rooms and snugs. The clients are a mixed bunch, the staff are a bit gruff but otherwise welcoming enough. Food was reasonable value for money, especially the freshly-cooked pizzas - and there was a winelist which, while mostly uninspiring, had one or two gems on it. Five handpumps on the bar, two with Wadworth's beers, one with a guest 'coming soon' and one with Rosie's cider. I had a pint of Dirty Rucker which was in good condition. Worth a visit if you're in the area, especially if you are a railway enthusiast or want a meal before/after travelling through Bournemouth Airport. I would also be happy to B&B here as it's a pleasant location.
