Komakino . left this review about The George Inn

Re-opened as The George Ale House after a few years closure, this two-roomer is a short walk from both The Cross Keys and White Lion, but does what it says on the tin to a degree - an Olde Worlde pub with no muzak or other distractions, just open log fires either side and a four ale line-up, including two locals. Missenden's first inn, dating back to the 15th Century, there are a number of exposed beams throughout with a bar against the rear wall to the right-hand side with a smattering of tables and chairs, with a sunken area to the left with an inglenook fireplace occupied by a modern burner and with cosier seating here. Two large barrels form vertical tabling and a shelf unit made from wooden crates contained a handful of bottled beers along with a sign proclaiming "Craft Bottle Shop Coming Soon!". Flooring was wood boards apart from the sunken area with quarry tile. Walls area rendered between the beams with a light blue / white colour scheme. The aforementioned ales comprised Black Sheep Bitter, Arbor Oz Bomb along with Tring Ridgeway and Malt Starry Nights - the latter very good and also good on the beer miles, with the brewery a mile or so up the hill in Prestwood. There's not a lot of choice in Missenden and for ambience, The Keys was always the pub to visit, but this resurrection gives it decent competition.
