Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Plough & Harrow

Traditional village pub in some ways, although very much geared up for those dining. That said, there is a reasonable amount of general seating in the bar area, with more on a slightly lower level beyond, and the separate main restaurant directly ahead as you enter. Being very close to the Long Man Brewery, it was no surprise to find their beers featured, but it was good to see five different ones available from the six handpumps: Best Bitter, Long Blonde, Old Man (£5.40), Rising Giant and the new Sussex Pride.

A brick and flint building in a remote downland village, somewhat under the gaze of the Long Man of Wilmington. Inside, it has the air of having been made over back in the nineties:just this side of twee, with a rather sepulchural bar and serving area.First impressions are important, and I quickly felt that for whatever reason, that this wasn’t really our sort of pub.
On a more positive note, the pint of Hophead that I enjoyed in the garden was excellent, if a touch one dimensional, and there were pumps dispensing Westerham BB and the inevitable Harvey’s Sussex Best Bitter. The folk behind the bar were jolly and dog friendly, but I was irked to have to surrender my card if I wanted to run a tab, as we were sitting in the garden.
On inspection, we considered the food over elaborate and over priced:helpings seemed on the small side, so we moved on to our beloved Cricketers Arms at Berwick. We’d really looked forward to coming here, on an infrequent day out. Perhaps it was me, but this pub could be a cracker.

The Plough and Harrow is a very pleasant pub that was being staffed by a very friendly and polite barmaid during my midweek lunchtime visit last week. The bar is a couple of steps down from the front door and is in the centre of the pub. There is a small room to the right of the bar that had some diners in situ and there is more seating to the left of the bar where the back door leads to a small lawn out the back that has some seating next to the car park. There is a dartboard in the bar area, but there were some tables on the oche so I think a game of arrows is out of bounds during busy dining times. The furniture is mostly made up of conventional wooden tables and chairs, but there are some cool padded stools made from old barrels. I didn’t spot a TV, but there was some background music softly playing in the background. There is a limited standard draught selection from which I had a very nice pint of Guinness and although three hand pumps were unused Hophead, Harveys Best and Old Sussex were available.

This kitchen is closed between lunchtime and dinner.

This place is not cheap, like most other pubs in the area, and being a bit out of the way this is more of a destination pub, but I think that it is worth the trip and I will return.
