Very dated pub by the cathedral, though fairly friendly and cosy with the wood panelling and stained glass. Flashing Christmas lights throughout the pub and the constant noise from the fruit machines mean it isn’t the best for a peaceful pint, even on a quiet weekday. Two ales, Wainwrights and surprisingly a Fullers Jack Frost (in okay-to-mediocre condition). I wouldn’t say no to another pint here but there must be better in Carlisle.

I have given this pub enough chances.
Every time I go in the beer is warm and sour.
The food is good and cheap and the surroundings are very nice.
But if you decide to venture here drink lager.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Boardroom

Quite an impressive black-and-white façade, and a reasonably interesting interior too with some booths and a range of decorative features. Two pairs of handpumps on the bar counter, offering Jennings Cumberland and Ossett Silver King (£3.00). Not bad, but rather put off by a sticky floor.

I like this pub and often call in for one when I'm in Carlisle. The main problem is that the beer quality is very variable. Every so often you get served a pint of vinegar, OK they change it for you, but it simply shouldn't be on the bar. It's a good pub and friendly but sort the beer out otherwise I'm going to have to start giving it a miss.
