2nd Visit - must have neglected to review last time.

Fine micro with a very pubby feel. Beer range is very good - with interesting keg and cask - I tried an Ossett Brewery Posh Rat and a Deya Stout, both on cask, both lovely.

Real unique feature is that you can bring a chippy tea in from next door. Your appreciation of this will probably depend on how hungry you are and if you like the smell of chips. And other people's chips always smell better than yours.

Definitely would call in again if in the area again. GBG regular.

The Cask in Liverpool Road (not to be confused with the much larger Cask in Ancoats) could easily be classed as a micropub. In fact, it did used to be a shop. Although it probably pre-dates the current micropub scene. My last visit was in 2013. I'm not sure how long it had been open before then.

Just the 3 ales were available on cask - Mobberley Brewhouse Sidekick, First Chop DDH Citra/El Dorado & Acorn Barnsley Bitter. However, there were several more craft beer options.

It was fairly busy on our Friday evening visit and is certainly a worthwhile option in this part of town.

Paid a return visit on Saturday evening. Very busy with the main bar, back room and outdoor area to the rear all full, leaving standing room only. Four cask ales on at the bar plus a selection of craft keg and some foreign beers (including Kriek Boon).

The place hasn't changed much and I was pleased to find it busier than on my 2018 visit. Well worth a visit when in this area of town.

Cask has an L shaped bar counter that runs up the left hand wall whilst supporting four real ales and a good selection of premium and craft keg products. At the rear is a seating area and the toilets are found downstairs. No television, but there was some heavy beat music playing in the background. The staff were polite so this place is well worth a visit for beer fans.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Cask

Close to Deansgate station / Castlegate tram stop, this corner pub is (slightly) bigger inside than one might expect. However, on a Friday evening, space was at an absolute premium. I found a standing spot close by the partly screened counter, possibly in the most crowded bar I have visited for over 18 months. Lots of shiny keg founts, including some German versions, but three of the four handpumps were also in use. I went for the Hoppy Go Lucky from Thirst Class Ale (£4.00), with Pictish Brewers Gold and Abbeydale's Daily Bread also available.

A long thin corner pub with the counter running down the left hand side to about halfway. The four pulls are straight in front of the door as you enter, with lots of nice interesting kegs on the longer counter face. Smaller Lancs & Yorks cask brewers on sale. Traditionally furnished with separate hard chairs at wooden tables, bench seating at the back and stools and a shelf opposite the counter. Basement toilets via a door halfway back on the right. Interesting old market buildings opposite, destined to be part of the Museum of Science and Industry whose main buildings, including the world's oldest railway station, are just down the road.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Cask

A very friendly and down to earth pub with no airs and graces, just good beer. The pub had a choice of four handpulled beers on our visit. I spotted Phoenix Wobbly Bob, so I went for that, excellent condition. Their other beers included Arbor Mosiac, which Mrs A enjoyed, Mallinsons Legend and Track Brewery Man in Shade. The interior was traditional in style with a mahogany bar over to the left of entrance. A timber front lounge area and a terracotta tiled floor towards the rear, along with further seating at the back and a patio garden.

Saturday night saw my first visit to Cask for quite a few years, and the one thing that struck me was how quiet it was compared to how it used to be. On previous visits it was standing room only but on Saturday we had no issue at all getting a table. The four hand pulls for cask ale are on the end of the bar as you walk through the door; on previous visits the bar has been crowded making these difficult to see, but not so on Saturday. The style of the place reminds me a bit of Bar Fringe. At Cask there is a larger back room and doors off there to an outdoor area. At the time of my visit the hand pulls were offering Crackendale by Thornbridge, Bramling Cascade by Mallinsons, Moonshine by Abbeydale and Ruby Jane by Ilkley. I enjoyed the Crackendale, but on this occasion was only staying for one so didn't get to try any of the others. Would be happy to pay a return visit.

Quinno _ left this review about Cask

Fairly straightforward small Belgian-style alehouse bar with scrubbed wood floor, blue and white walls with a larger red rear room. Despite the name, this place specializes more in continental beer. There were four ales on with the pumps facing you as you enter - Bristol Beer Factory Nova, Doctor Rudi, Squawk IPA (end of barrel) and Deeply Vale DV8 (good). Plenty of keg (14?) as well and a good range of continental bottles. Apparently you can also bring your own food in, so long as you clear up after yourself (fair enough!). A decent modern bar and some interesting beer but not necessarily one to classed as an essential visit.

A nice little micropub style place. Lots of European beer on tap and 4 handpumps of which only 3 were on today with Ticketybrew, Quantum Brewery and someone from Sheffield which I've forgotten. A decent little place.
