Will Larter left this review about Howard Arms Hotel

The large front door leads to a modern glass foyer with glass doors leading to the hotel reception. To the right is the bar area, and thankfully this is more traditional, with an open fire occupying the fireplace on the right hand wall, and the bar counter itself to the rear, in an L-shape. The front of the room is mostly dining tables, with more round the corner.

There's not much accommodation for drinkers, just a few stools and high chairs, plus one high table near the bar. There are five hand pumps with a range of Thwaites beers, including one badged with the name of the hotel. The Mild (formerly called Nutty Black) was in very good condition, and if anything is likely to entice me back to Brampton it would be this beer. Service was friendly and welcoming, and only the arrival of my bus ensured my departure.
