Dark and fairly dismal 'spoons that I stumbled upon whilst walking from Cathedral Square to the Marble Arch.

In need of an evening meal - so knew what I should be getting - app ordering, cheap, quick delivery. Food met all these points but you'll notice I didnt specify quality. Went for a mixed grill and the meat was as tough as old boots... some of it, you wouldn't give to a dog.

Should have complained but a mate had sent me a photo of a steak and ale pie he had at a different spoons.. For size, he had placed his finger over the top of said pie. He had to put the caption on the photo to say that he doesnt own a massive finger.

A shame, as I find the grills and breakfasts reliable.

The Seven Stars is a rather gloomy branch of Wetherspoon's which you probably wouldn't even notice if you happened to be walking past.

The usual 'spoon's selection of Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best & Sharp's Doom Bar were on, alongside 3 guest beers - Oakham JHB & Three B's Doff Cocker & Bee Blonde. I couldn't fault the beer condition or the price.

The interior is spread over a couple of floors. I chose a high table adjacent to the bar. Inevitably I'd chosen the one next to the local nutter who was trying to introduce a table of Manchester United fans (who he assumed were Everton fans) to a lone bloke wearing a Liverpool shirt. He seemed to find it all very amusing, but nobody was rising to the bait.

Absolutely rammed with football fans when I called in. So much so that I could hardly see the bar let alone what beers were on! I asked the overworked bar staff for a pint of real ale, preferably light and I got one! Not sure what it was but it was a very good pint!

wow, shockingly substandard for a city centre Spoons. dull choice of four ales this morning. still a million times better than the Yates and O'Neills crap next door.

As has been noted, the signage outside now declares it as the Seven Stars, whereas previously it just said Lloyds No 1. Interestingly the real ale in here was a bit cheaper than in the other Wetherspoon pubs visited in the city centre on a Saturday evening a couple of weeks ago - if anything would have expected the Lloyds (especially in the Printworks) to be more expensive. We're only talking £2.20 vs £2.49 or so, but still. Busy on a Saturday evening, as to be expected.

Nowadays this one does have the Seven Stars name outside but lacks the Lloyds branding. It clearly is a Lloyds as some music was playing when I got here latish on a Wednesday evening. Inside it's a typical Lloyds being a hideous garish modern bar. I didn't go upstairs but the downstairs room is roughly square with a curved bar. For a Spoons it's not that big.
The bar has two sets of three hand pumps that had two unused, Ticketybrew Munchner, Abbot, Doom Bore and Peerless El Dorado. I went for the El Dorado (£2.55) which was in decent nick. I can't see a return visit to this one happening.

Ground floor bar with six real ales that I could see. Upstairs bar with just keg offerings. Nothing special about this one.

Rubbish Wetherspoons. Dull selection of real ales.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Seven Stars (JD Wetherspoon)

Perhaps I missed it, but I couldn't see the Seven Stars name on the exterior (just Lloyds No. 1 Bar). Anyway, pretty much what you would expect from a pub in the Printworks complex (with the music being quite loud even in mid-afternoon so it must be bedlam later on). Six handpumps on the main bar offering the usual suspects plus a couple of goodies such as Burton Porter (top value at £1.75). Second, smaller bar upstairs but no real ale available there.

Yes it is, but that's hardly a step forward in the enhancement of humanity...
This is one of those places which is probably perfectly OK for a beer during shop opening hours but turns into a complete zoo after dark, especially at the weekend.
But then I'm not the target demographic for the pubs and bars of the Print Works during this time, and lets just say the bouncers didn't even ask me for my ID when I tried to catch an after midnight pint on Saturday night.
I believe there were some handpumps on the bar, but as I couldn't get anywhere near it to see I can't say.
Best left to the yoof when it gets close to Witching hour...
