Relatively remote country pub with a lovely massive rear garden. Clearly quite aged with various wonky beams, exposed brick areas and flagstone floor. Very starched white cloth formal food area at the front with less formal drinking to the rear. Plenty of bric-a-brac to explore. Food is upmarket pub grub. Seems like 1989 here, the toilet tiling in apricot and brown being an absolute corker. Feels like it's drifting a bit with local radio and a workaday barmaid for company. Four pumps dispensing Bombardier Gold, Ringwood Fortyniner and Best, Brakspear Bitter. My Ringwood wasn’t much to write home about. Perhaps it’s a bit better at weekends? I wanted to like it, but... 5.5

Pub caught fire on Mothering Sunday

"In total, 26 firefighters were called out at around 8.15pm to tackle the fire and they managed to stop it spreading to the rest of the pub, which only suffered minor smoke damage."

If a pub was graded purely by numbers in the carpark, this has to be top star. Undergoing a ressurgance in the last year or so after extensive refurbishment of the kitchen, this pleasant country pub offers good food (bar meals to sit down), reasonable beer selection and a large garden with equipment great for the family Sunday lunch. Overflow carpark available.
