Finally made it to go in, pub lunch, on a Friday
Has wheelchair ramp as well as steps, reasonable sized car park but free on street parking if needed
I counted 8 hand pumps, two out of use, pipe cleaning etc, plus usual keg stuff
A large knocked through bar, carpeted in the main, but does have hard flooring to the left
Divided into area areas, but still open plan
As you walk in through the only door, at the front where you would expect it to be, there is a large dining & carpeted are to right, bar ahead, more dining to left
For food it is find a table, remember the number, order at bar style, worked for us
Mainly given over to eating, which seems very popular on our visit, and the food was value for money and tasty, although it may very well come from a factory in a lorry
Silent TV, but may not be in the evening
Two bar staff on during my visit, polite & helpful
Not a destination pub IMO but certainly worth dropping in if in the area

Lunchtime visit, as part of group for Christmas lunch. Under new management for last couple of years, 3 hand pulls, one being doom bar. large inside, but mainly given over to food, they do have pub quizzes some evenings, and karaoke, so I guess the evening pub is very different from the lunchtime one
Staff were polite, tidy & helpful
Food was OK, not gourmet but not expected to be
Has silent TV showing sport, which may change at night of course
I would not hesitate to return, except it is not my local
Worth a visit if in area, but not a special trip

Bit of history, the land was owned by now defunct Brickwood's Brewery and during the war Portsmouth City Council built a large air raid shelter on the land, meant to give women & children an escape from the Blitz & a good night's sleep. However it was so far from Portsmouth, in a time of few private cars, that faced with a long trudge up Portsdown hill with kids & bundle of blankets many decided to take their chances in the city
The land now has the Woodpecker on it
D Day troops were billeted in nearby Queen's Inclosure

Lunchtime visit, seems pleasant enough, clean & tidy, comfy seats + large car park
Large varied menu, from burgers to steaks, has a carvery as well, 4 real ales on offer, all from different breweries, I had a Doom Bar at 2.70 which was nice enough
I would go again

Took my wife here on our wedding anniversary for lunch, married for 20 years. Asked to remove my baseball cap, stupid policy, I am a 55 year old male that has never received a parking ticket and I refuse to be criminalized by a policy that is administered in such a black and white fashion. My business is obviously not wanted will never go back and neither will my friends and family. Good business practice in these hard times(?) well done.
