This was my first visit to the Trooper Inn. It rates really as an eatery. The food is good but pricey, I paid £17.00 for a dish of lamb cutlets. The beer is well kept but the range is a little limited. Not really my type of establishment & I really objected to the 10% service charge levied on a party of 8 or more. We were 10 walkers in for lunch. I complained & the charge was dropped. The upshot was that I did not feel disposed to leave a tip. A roadside pub & not for locals or discerning customers who want a bit more character in their pub.I rate it a 6.
