A large Spoons which actually has a car park, which is a bit of a rarity. We called in for breakfast on the long trip home and the food was very good, as was the service. Looked a good selection of ales but the wrong time of day to try them! Happy to call again.

I recall this pub as being nothing special on my one visit - I wouldn't be surprised if it was then a Whitbread Beefeater. But that was in the summer of 1988 so what it's like now, I'll leave for others.

This was once a Whitbread Beefeater and had something of a history before that rubbish incarnation. It's a large pub but probably only medium sized for a JDW. It's something of a rambling place and having entered from the right hand side it took a while to find the bar which is over on the left by the large car park. It's a much more attractive place than the usual shop conversions partly because it has always been a pub and partly because it's a newer outlet.
The eight hand pumps had a good selection of the JDW Trio Of Doom, Windsor and Eton Windsor Knot & Eton Boatman, Banks's Alpha 5 IPA, Ballard's Golden Bine and Firebird Summer Sorachi. I went for the Windsor Knot which was in good nick.
Sadly I only had time for a flying visit to this one but it seemed like a good Spoons to me.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Red Lion (JD Wetherspoon)

Fine old inn, converted to a 'spoons without losing too much character. Usual sort of furniture and decor in a wide variety of seating areas. Slightly surprised to find two banks of 'only' four hand pumps each, but there were several interesting offerings including Irving Frigate (£2.85).
