E TA left this review about The Rose and Thistle

A wonderfully atmospheric village pub in a thatched building, previously cottages and a baker's shop, dating from the 16th Century. There is a tight car park at the back and a small garden at the front. Inside there is a small restaurant area to one side and a larger bar on the other. The floor is flagstones and one end of the bar is a full height gabled extension. The furniture is a mix of church pews and wooden kitchen tables. There is WiFi but no other electronic distraction. Swarms of well-behaved dogs mingle with the human customers. Board games are available alongside copies of GBG, although the pub doesn't currently have a GBG entry. Two ales, Butcombe's Gold and Doombar plus Rosie's cider are on draught, all extremely well kept. Definitely worth seeking out for an evening's eating and drinking or just a quick pint if in the area.
