Old Boots left this review about The Barley Mow

Not too modernised, two or three original rooms have been knocked through into a single U shaped room with the back of the square servery forming the back wall of the entrance lobby and the other faces serving the room. To the left is a double sided fire place presumably once serving two rooms. The other side of the pub has the screen, pool and darts. Two pumps, a reasonable Doombar on one and a reverse clip for Courage Best on the other, Courage owned the Alton brewery of course and it was the original home of the now much debased Directors Bitter. Nice fragments remain like the fireplace and the low beamed ceilings but it's past its best, now a basic boozer with happy salt of the earth customers. It shuts at 8pm Monday to Thursday so call in here before the Railway Arms.
