A small two-roomed local. Inside there’s a larger left hand space with a raised area for bands (live music is pushed here) and a smaller right side for, er, drinking. The interior décor is marvellously mismatched, including at least four different carpets, set off nicely against the third length green painted wood panelling. An array of kitchen vessels (originally from the Dorchester Hotel, according to WhatPub) adorn the bar walls. Muted cricket on the telly for company, as all the locals were outside. Two pumps with just an aged and lukewarm Doom Bar available. It’s a fair walk from the station and on this showing, isn’t likely to tempt many off the train. 4.5

Moby Duck left this review about The Lion Brewery

The Lion Brewery is very much a traditional two roomed locals pub, the main drinking bar curves around the servery, the floor is carpeted in a somewhat gaudy red with blue and green involved in the mix, the carpet actually disconcertingly carries on right up the bar to the counter level, upon which are four hand pulls of which only one appears in regular use, and this was unfortunately Doombar. This disappointment aside I felt quite comfortable here as I sipped my pint of Grolsh. This is very much a music venue and live bands play every Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. In the the second room there is a pool table and darts board. Despite the lack of decent real ale( although I have seen an annual beer festival advertised in the past), I quite liked it here and the locals were friendly enough.

Hi I am Mike Armitage the landlord of the Lion Brewery, I just wanted to put some information on here about my pub. We are a good old fashioned village pub that does food (we are not a eating house just good old pub grub). We have Live music most nights of the week, Tuesday and Thursday is Jam nights and then we have LIVE bands on Fri, Sat and Sun nights.

We also have a FREE function room which can be used for all sorts from birthday parties, christenings, weddings, hen and stag do's or if you just want to have a meeting.

We have bed and breakfast which is clean and comfortable with a TV in every room. We also have a big screen TV, pool table and dart board.

So whether you just wnat to pop in for a pint or some food or to listen to the music we are a friendly welcoming venue with a lot to offer so pop in and have a drink!

Thank you
