More a riverside bar than a pub,the entrance is down some well worn steps from the bridge.A McMullens tied house and there are two ranks of three handpumps serving the same ales,AK,IPA(£3.20) and a seasonal brew from The Whole Hop Brewery( AKA McMullens)on my midweek trip.
The Sky Sports flat screens had their volume turned down and the bar was quiet. The interior is on different levels but as Steve notes the highlight is the terrace overlooking the river. That's one reason to visit here,I am hard pressed to recommend the ale.

There was a Saracen’s Head in Ware as early as 1656. The original pub was demolished in October 1957 and rebuilt in the 1960s. And it was during the late 70’s when, in my youth, driving from North London to Ware of an evening in a Morris 1100 was deemed to be an adventure equivalent of going from London to Manchester today. It was a lively, youngsters place back in that day and was also prone to the odd spot of bother. So when back in Ware I looked the old place up and it was good to still see it functioning, which largely seems to be due to McMullens trying to brand it as a Riverside bar close to the town centre and therefore make use of its one overwhelming asset, its location by the riverside.
The best feature remains the large terrace overlooking the river and the enclosed internal conservatory section for the colder evenings. Still a big space and Sky Sport and ESPN is available on several plasmas screen dotted about the place. Seems to focus on food during the day and there are only two McMullens ales available, and as I’d had plenty of them already i didn’t bother to stop , so will not leave a rating.

The Saracens Head is a largish pub that is next to the bridge and the river lea.
This pub looks a bit different from the outside, there is an outside terrace that overlooks the river and once inside the pub was quite smart with plenty of seating in different areas.
This pub is a McMullens tied house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of McMullens AK bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beer was Country bitter.
