Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Steamer Inn

One of a line of seafront pubs and bars along the esplanade, and all understandably busy during a sunny bank holiday weekend. Like the Aqua and Waterfront on either side, the Steamer has a large front terrace (partly under cover in this case). The interior is traditionally furnished and has a nautical theme, as you would expect. Revisionist India spiced pale ale, Vectis Venom from the Island Brewery (£3.90) and two beers from Ringwood - Best Bitter and Forty Niner - available from four of six handpumps, and Addlestone's Cider on another.

BRUMMIE STEVE left this review about The Steamer Inn

A large food pub on Shanklin Esplanade with tables outside giving great views, I found the Wychwolds pale bitter to be very good.

The only reason this pub is popular is because it advertises on the Wightlink ferries. The oub claims to specialise in local fresh fish, but the fish we had was definitely previously frozen. Lots of people eating, leaving their food, and then leaving the pub.
Strangley enough, The Dairyman's daughter in Arreton has the same menu - we didnt bother ordering food there!!!
If you want good food in Shanklin, DONT EAT HERE - go to The Fishermans Cottage at the bottom of The Chine.
