An old pub which has been knocked through and much extended to produce a long family dining house. Various rustic touches such as a section of stone flooring do not succeed in giving much character to the tedious white-painted rooms. A modern extension at one end is particularly unpleasant, not least with ridiculous heat and no opened windows. Outside there is a large children's play area. The only saving grace was a clutch of decent ales, in the shape of Yates Islander, Otter Bitter and Butcombe Original. Leave it to the families.
