Graham Coombs left this review about The Stags Head

Old roadside village pub, noted for food. A reasonably large, rambling sort of pub, with lots of wood panelling and beams. What were presumably once rooms are all joined together, but still divided into lots of different spaces, round an island bar. The right hand rooms are given over to restaurant use, but retain pubby feel. Enthusiasm and helpfulness of staff notable, down to offering samples of the 5 ales on offer, which seem to be based around Theakstons, Thwaites and guests. Good outdoor areas, including areas for the kids, but a few too many wasps for comfort. Food is fairly impressive, with emphasis on local dishes. Not cheap, and cooked fresh so not fast, but worth waiting for. GBG listed in 2011.
