Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Ye Arrow
Linked to the Jolly Knight round the corner by a corridor, the bar has some exposed timbers whereas the hall-like main seating area has dark wood-panelling. Furniture is more modern than one might expect, and the banquette seating has been re-covered recently by the look of things. Also has a substantial rear patio area. Two of five handpumps in use on this revisit, offering Old Speckled Hen and Old Golden Hen (in reasonable shape).

A rather naff function suite/carvery off the High Street, as mentioned below owned by and attached to the Jolly Knight. The large room is fitted with mock-Tudor panelling, which appears to have been stripped of any adornments so it all feels a bit empty. There is a drinking area outside facing the castle. Ales on offer were Doom Bar, St Edmunds and Speckled Hen, however those sampled were not in good order at all. Disappointing.

Ye Arrow is a white painted pub that is just off the high street.
Once inside there is a large single room which has an L shaped front area which has comfy bench seating and small stools,the rear area is much larger and oblong shaped and has bench seating and chairs,the walls are wood panelled.
There were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Doom Bar which was a decent enough drink,the other beers were GK ST Edmunds and Old Speckled Hen.
The room was fairly empty on my Saturday dinner visit,but the outside seating area to the rear which has views of the castle and cathedral was packed.
This pub is decent enough for a couple of drinks.

A large single-bar pub which appears to be part of the King's Head complex, The Arrow consists o9f a Z-shaped single bar with parquet flooring. Furniture is laid out down one leg for diners and the rest is normal bar-type seating. it's al;l horribly contrived but it keeps the tourists and younger locals happy, and the garden does give some excellent views of the castle and cathedral. The walls are wood panelled, ceiling beams are painted red and the awful muzak completes the cultural vandalism, but it all seems to work a one level. There is occasional live music. The attractive barmaid was commanding the 5 handpumps only three of which were dispensing beer. I had a pint of Howlands which was really quite good. Overall, not a bad place and worth including on a crawl.

Ye Arrow is a decent sized pub with a bar in the back right corner where standard draught can be purchased. There are five hand pumps, but three of these were unused leaving Old Speckled Hen and Ruddles as the ale options. I didn’t see any menus, but food is served and the three high chairs that were stacked in a corner suggest that this is a family friendly pub. My visit was on a recent Monday just before 18:00 and I was informed by the landlady that she was closing up.
Outside the front of the pub is some seating that faces Rochester Castle that I imagine is a popular spot during the summer.
As a note, Ye Arrow is connected by a corridor to the Jolly Knight which is found at the rear. They share the same toilets and the draught and cask ale options are exactly the same so I they probably also share a cellar.

Ye Arrow is part of a twin pub package that includes the Jolly Knight on the High Street, joined together like siamese twins. My recent visit to Ye Arrow was the first for some time and I was somewhat taken aback by the scale of the refurbishments that have at least doubled the size of the pub, not particularly for the better. From what was a cosy enough single room bar, the place has suddenly turned into a characterless drinking barn that appears more like a holiday camp bar awaitinmg the next coach party.
The pub is in a prime location set among historic buildings just off the High street and from the outside looks enticing enough on its own merits. The interior is however totally soulless. The main bar area is much as it was with banquette seating, bare parquet flooring and paneled walls (with some baffling unannotated photos) but the newly opened up section away from the bar (which apparently used to be the kitchen) now resembles an in-built part time music venue with speakers and spotlights (but no stage) and kills any intimacy that place once possessed. A corridor signposted to the toilets continues through to the Jolly Knight pub with who it shares the same beer cellar so if the beers are bad in one, expect the same in the other.
The beer selection on my latest visit was quite poor with 2 Greene King ales (Old Speckled Hen and Royal London) 3 unused pumps and at £3.40 for the latter, not cheap especially given that the quality was very poor.
The pub’s sole redeeming feature is probably the rear patio with its wonderful views of the cathedral and castle but this is hardly any substitute the pubs other shortcomings. The place has such potential and sits in a wonderful location but it isn’t a place I will be rushing back to in any great hurry.
