Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Goose

One of those town-centre Stonegate pubs, emulating the Wetherspoon model with plenty of food and drink offers, but just not doing it quite so well. Uninspired semi-modern furniture and decoration. However, slightly surprisingly, Doom Bar, Courage Best and Hobgoblin IPA (£3.20) were available from three of the four handpumps.

Steve C left this review about The Pembroke

The Pembroke is a large Smith and Jones pub with a long bar that stretches the length of the left hand wall and faces raised seating found up the right hand wall. There is also some seating around the entrance and a line of high tables up the centre of the pub. I found the décor to be quite bland and the numerous plasma screens showing nothing in particular added nothing to the non-existent ambience. Six Nations rugby was being advertised and I was unaware that Sky Sports was shown until I saw the chalkboard in the gents that advertises upcoming Premiership football games.
The bar is stocked with standard draught and supports three hand pumps. One of these was unused leaving Bombardier and Courage Best as the ale options. Very cheap pub co food is available daily until 21:00 and no under eighteens are permitted.

If the wooden floor was to be replaced by carpet and all but one of the plasma screens was removed this could be a Wetherspoons. There are better pubs nearby.

Good food and the staff are quite good as well for a big busy pub. They do get some trouble but do have door staff in the evenings and at the more busy times. Pick your times and you will enjoy a visit or two and want to come back.
