Tris C left this review about King's Arms

This place has existed since at least the early 19th century, so I suspect the current building dates from the 1930s, the King’s Arms name reinstated in 2017.
The interior has been substantially stripped out and trendified, with a bare boarded floor, three-quarter height panelling with bare plaster up to a bare plaster ceiling, bare brick to the rear and tubular steel bar rack. Décor amounted to eclectic prints to the accompaniment of very loud rugby commentary and the nasal assault of fish ‘n’ chips, lapped up by a twentysomething crowd.
Unlike the Ram, there was the promise of cask here but with three pumps and two reversed clips.
As I couldn’t stand the cacophony, smell and lack of cask at around 9.20 on a Saturday night, I decided to leave; the Spread Eagle is over the road.

Went in as still has Young's name in view, asked if they had any ale, was told no not even bottled ale, was told it is now a cocktail bar. Probably getting ready for the new Tennant's of the tower blocks

I didn’t have any great hopes for this pub when I saw that the name change from The Kings Arms to Grand Union had been accompanied by the whole building being painted the indigo/black colour that we see so often nowadays. But inside it was worse than I feared. Apparently it’s still a Young’s house, but the three handpumps on the bar counter are now redundant as I was told that they now only sell bitter in bottles. A cursory glance at the furnishings (low benches and the like) before heading for the door show this to be a seriously madeover pub, even by Young’s standards. It’s really not my sort of place.

Large pub with a large bar area. Sells real ale andhas food all day. Bare floorboards. Large back garden, sign in the garden says: 'mind your head, falling plumbs'
