A surprisingly large Everard's place. Upmarket– pleasingly there’s a pub to serve most persuasions in Ratby. Over two levels thanks to a large rear extension, it’s a modern and safe environment for the pashmina and prams brigade; wood floor, light colours and some trad bar fittings. Two ales; Tiger and Session IPA No 3 (NBSS 3) with one clip turned and a cider on the remaining pump. A combination of Sunday lunches, high demand and general COVID stress meant we had a brigade of overworked staff, some of whom seemed rather scatty (to the extent where complaints were being made by punters whose drinks hadn’t turned up 20 minutes after ordering despite there being a lad behind the bar should have realised - and if not, been sternly told - that his sole job was to work the pumps rather than get distracted by food orders…I earwigged this and made sure I politely reminded him I was waiting for mine after five minutes had elapsed and got mine before the complainers!) and then onto unclear payment instructions once it had been deposited (had to flag down another staff member to ask if they’d bring a machine now, later or if I had to go to the bar). Unprecedented times I suppose, but it did make for a less than relaxing 25 minutes as I had to get gone in order to catch my train back to Reading and I was up against half the pub trying to get service. I suspect on a quieter day I would have been a bit more positive.

The Bulls Head is in the middle of Ratby and close to the shops.
Once inside this pub seemed unaltered and had its original layout with three seperate rooms, there was a largish bar to the left and a small cosy lounge to the right and another room at the back we sat in the lounge as the bar was very busy.
This pub is an Everards tied house and there were four real ales on here i had a drink of Everards Tiger bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beers were Everards Beacon bitter and Original and a guest beer from Original brewery called Full Circle.
Both the bar and lounge were busy and i quite liked this pub.
