Real Ale Ray left this review about The Tobie Norris

Top class pub steeped in history, with a labyrinth of rooms each one of them hosting something different. We got a table in the oak panelled front room, where we enjoyed some excellent well kept cask ales.
Six handpumps with five in use, serving Nene Valley IPA Release the Chimps, Hadrian Border Grainger Ale, Hopback Summer Lightning, Oakham Citra and Hopshackle Brewery Bitter. I particularly liked the Hopshackle Bitter.
The food looked top notch also, you could have left me in here for hours.

Award winning multi room pub well known to serious pub goers. On this occasion there were five pulls of beer plus a cider and standard kegs. I won’t try to describe the varied and interesting interior; each room has its own flavour and décor. The beer is fine and this is definitely a don’t miss pub.

This is a fantastic old pub, from around the 14th century I believe. Many of the original features have been retained following a sympathetic refurbishment. The good sized front bar had wood panelling on the walls, boards on the floor, leather arm chairs and a real fire, there are more traditional stone walled bars further back and more seating upstairs where you can see some of the original, and very old looking, rafters.

The main bar area seemed very busy with lot's of people milling around, although the front bar was quieter. It's certainly not cheap at £5.30 for a pint and a half, but I guess this is a classy pub in an upmarket area.

Menu was pretty much of the gastropub genre with most of the main dishes around the £12 mark, although there was also a good selection of pizza’s available.

It's owned by the small, local Ufford brewery so they had their White Hart and Rupert’s War Dog on the bar, but a good selection from other brewers as well – Adnams Southwold, Hook Norton SDM and Hopback Odyssey. Ciders were Aspall's Suffolk and Weston’s Organic.

Next was another Good Beer Guide pub the Tobie Norris on St Paul’s Street. This one has a history dating back to around 1280. It is a pub you just have to visit when in Stamford. It is one of the reasons I like to visit during the day when it is quiet. I love to get my half of beer and just wander round a pub like this, exploring the rooms, nooks and crannies. A wooden rocking chair in front of a fire was very fitting for this pub. The rooms upstairs have been renovated and there are ancient beams instead of ceilings. We enjoyed the Slaters Eggstravaganza here. No simple ladies and gents, they have Tobie Norris and Suzannah Norris. The room we sat in was very dog friendly and there was a bowl of water in the middle of the floor for the 5 or 6 well behaved dogs.
