Soup Dragon left this review about Highwayman Inn

A detached 1950s looking pub in a housing estate that has a patio area. The pub has some character for a modern building, with plain brick juxtaposed with garish yellow render. The building has a long-sided pitched roof, with a dormer insert.

The interior has a large open-plan room with a large serving bar facing you on entry. The food area is to the right as you walk in and the bar/lounge to the left. The decor has coffee, cream and white and brown wallpapered walls, with a cream ceiling and a part wood and part patterned carpet floor. The bar area has a pool table and a dart board, as well as old photos and Victorian prints and cartoons on the walls. The food area obviously has dining tables with menus, but although the menu was reasonably price, there was nobody eating. i didn't eaither. In fact, there were just a few locals in, but it was an early evening visit. There are a number of TVs, none of which were on and the background music was general and at a decent level. The service was friendly.

Beer; no real ale. Usual stuff with a decent enough Theakston's MILD on keg.

A tidy enough pub that sadly lacks real ale for someone with my tastes - still it is far better than most of the bars in the town. I would pop back here again, if just for one.
