In the sticks outside Chesham town this looks to have had a lick of paint recently (an A-board outside proclaimed "We Are Open") and despite looking a little "brushed up" in places, still retains the cosy feel of a country pub in the main. A small bar faces centre-left with a small entrance hall jutting into the main room. Cushioned bench seats and a smattering of tables to the left, including some "below-beam" bench seats either side of a brick fireplace (pleasingly lit during a Saturday early evening visit). More seating to the right, mostly set for dining, with a small ante-room to the right of the bar. Quarry tiles throughout, some exposed brick and some neo-rustic touches on the walls. Two beers from the three handpulls - Tring Side Pocket For A Toad and Tring Squadron Scramble (the third unclipped). The Squadron was poured into a handle without prompt and was in great form (£4 for a pint). Locals started to creep in during my sojourn, and although the background muzak was a tad too overloud, the ambience was warm and with a member of staff taking a couple of phone bookings while I was there, this seems to getting itself back on track.

The White hart has reopened with new management, and is everything a good country pub should be ! Great food, reasonably priced, roaring fires, sports on the TV, a good selection of beers and a warm welcome from staff and customers alike. Had an amazing time last time and will definately be back soon!

A genuine village pub. Choice of 4 decent bitters usually on offer. Fairly priced and well kept. Very friendly welcome from the landlord. Food is excellent. Very reasonably priced, excellently cooked with fresh ingredients and served with a smile.
