Old Boots left this review about The Chequers Inn

Rather posher than I expected given the online reviews, a little more in the restaurant with beer category than popular village pub, nearly deserted on a Saturday lunchtime when we called in. Having said that the food wasn’t overpriced and there’s a monthly quiz night and a difficult to access dart board. Important stuff now, five pumps of which three were in use, Woodforde's Wherry which is their regular beer plus Moon Gazer Jigfoot and Barnham Norfolk Topper, there’s a small blackboard listing “Today’s Beer Specials” but it lied. Usual keg stuff etc. Furnished with lighter wood tables, both round and square with normal dining chairs, a less posh feature being the sauce bottles on the tables. Decor is plain white walls with tasteful pictures, less tasteful blackboards of information and a selection of horse brasses, the place is mostly carpeted. There’s a rash of fake beams and the main space is divided up by wooden partitions with a chequerboard motif. Up the side of the pub, leading to the toilets are a row of booths decorated with artwork for sale. GBG2022 listed.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Chequers Inn

Country pub situated in the village of Binham. The local Binham Priory is worth a visit, whilst you're here.

A lengthy sign at the entrance to the car park explains the Covid regulations and indicates that you will be approached and offered a table.

We had no such luck, but soon realised that the interior of the pub is not open. Service is from a bar in the garden and there are 3 or 4 different drinking areas. Unfortunately, despite most tables being unoccupied, all were reserved. So, we took our chances and sat at a reserved table.

A blackboard at the side of the outside bar listed the ales as Adnams Broadside & Humpty Dumpty Swallowtail & Little Sharpie. Although, there were only 2 handpulls. So, it is possible that the third ale would have had to be fetched from inside. Nevertheless, I was also happy with the option of a Whin Hill Sweet cider, which I'd not previously tried.

The pub does not seem to brew its own beer any more.

A decent start to a day in Norfolk. But will pubs like this continue to offer only outdoor seating as we head into the winter?
