The entrance to the Walnut Tree leads to a corridor that runs up the right of the pub giving access to the front and rear bars to the left and toilets at the rear. The front bar has an L-shaped serving counter along the rear wall where standard, premium and craft keg can be found alongside four hand pumps that were drawing Wainwright, Sharp’s Doom Bar and TT Landlord. Tiling runs along the floor around the counter and carpet runs across the front where seating sits in the front windows either side of a central fireplace. In the smaller rear bar are some banquettes and high tables, the four hand pumps are duplicated from the front. The televisions in both bars were showing muted golf via Sky Sports and there was some loud background music playing.
On the left side of the pub is a conservatory like extension that is used mainly for dining. The cheeseburger is priced at £13 with a soft drink or £14 with a pint. Further left is a large patio with seating and beyond is a massive grass covered area strewn with picnic tables.
My visit was late on a recent Thursday after the speed quiz had finished so it was fairly quiet and the atmosphere was a bit flat. The service wasn’t overly welcoming, but my visit was late so I’ll let the barmaid off. If I lived in the area I would be happy to call this pub one of my locals. However, the out of town location means that I’d have to make a special trip to revisit, which isn’t going to happen.

A very civilised large pub standing in its own grounds with good car parking and a big garden including a children's area. The three rooms are all tastefully decorated, with the main bar at the front leading through to a restaurant area and a further bar behind keeping the sports TV out of the way. Some good ales on offer (Cask Marque accredited); the sampled TT Boltmaker was in excellent form.

Nice pub in Heworth catering for locals with a nice food menu on offer. from the outside this looks like a more up market place but once inside it has the same feel and decor as the shoulder of mutton and the nags head, more traditional with a locals feel. there were four real ales available on my visit with theakstons xb, john smiths cask, Treeboom yorkshire sparkle and greene king/kimberly rocking Rudolph. My pint of john smiths was a reasonable at £3.05 and was in a very good condition.
This was a nice pub , i sat at the bar but could hear a few laughing and joking round the other side. a perfectly reasonably establishment that i wouldn't mind visiting again.

This is a very large pub which has a very big garden at the side of it.
I went in the room at the front i think there is also a smaller lounge at the rear, the largish room at the front was quite smart and there were three real ales on the bar i had a drink of Roosters Yankee and this was quite nice there was also Black Sheep Special and John Smiths cask they were also doing Sunday dinners.
I thought was a decent pub and was quite happy in here.
