Old Boots left this review about The Gold Cup Inn

An old village inn in the back of beyond that has been updated with an extension on the side and a brusque modernisation inside. The extension houses the front door, toilets and a well light seating area. Further back in the original building is the counter with its three handpumps, only one in operation serving a very acceptable Theakstons Best, in what is the main bar. Nicely bubbling along with banter from a friendly bunch of locals when we dropped in early on a Saturday evening. To the other end is a more formal dining area. Décor is from the old photo school on pastel walls, furnished in various forms mainly kitchen tables and chairs with a bit of bench seating, the carpet is particularly industrial. There's a fairly eclectic mix of music played over the PA but it's a pleasant enough village pub although there is a sign saying no dogs or muddy boots in the front window. It ought to have nice views over the Vale of York given the village's location but it doesn't.
