Will Larter left this review about Christies

A semi-basement that's a bit larger than I expected, and definitely lighter and airier too, all things considered. The bar is on the right with four hand pumps. There was a cider on at the time of our visit, and a couple of real ales, with Ossett White Rat and Timothy Taylor Landlord due to come on next. The Daleside Bitter went off, leaving just Leeds Pale momentarily, but fortunately this was in good nick (NBSS 3). Perhaps not the best of the bars in this part of town, but given how busy the Little Ale House and the Inn at Cheltenham parade can get, this is an acceptablke alternative.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Christies

Angled corner pub oddly set slightly below pavement level. Traditional furniture and decor inside, with a few wooden benches out on a narrow patio terrace. Four handpumps, with Landlord, Daleside Bitter which went of during the pour, Leeds Pale and Rosie's Pig cider featured on our visit.

Refurbished to give a reasonable pub feel, if a bit subterranean thanks to some steps down below road level. Traditional furnishings with several sports screens for entertainment. Four handpumps proved a bit disappointing on this visit, with Leeds Pale and a Lillie's cider on, with TT Landlord and Ossett White Rat coming soon. Apparently something from Daleside had just expired. Tolerable.

Under new management it’s had a makeover inside with a nicely done faux Victorian decor. Lots of dark wood on the counter and wainscoting, cream walls with old photos and drawings of Harrogate for decoration, the counter top and drinking shelves are in walnut. The floor is still stone and some bits of exposed brick and stone remain as do the little seating spaces. Mostly leather topped wooden furniture including some bench seating. Four pulls with a selection from Taylor’s (Boltmaker), Leeds (Pale) and Bradfield (Yorkshire Farmer) and coming soon type notice promising “your perfect pint will be back on soon”. I hope so ‘cos my Boltmaker was average mind you it went off a couple of pints later. The keggery is taken care of on 12 taps, mostly common or garden but a couple of odd balls. Didn’t see any machines but there’s still a few screens dotted about.

Someone has taken ROB Camra's advice to heart as there are now three handpumps sprouting from the counter, the service is better as well, or maybe I just caught them on a bad day before. Ales on sale were Copper Dragon Golden Pippin (not the best I've ever tasted), Black Sheep Bitter and Old Peculiar, pricing is at the high end for Harrogate.

A long thin bar with the counter running almost the length of the back wall, it's at ground level but gives the impression of being a basement. Nice stone flag floor, exposed stonework and painted brick with random balustrades, it has a number of discrete little seating areas. I assume it has been converted from the servants quarters or kitchen of the big house above. Several screens and machines in some of the little cubby holes. A long line of dispiriting keg founts and the service was fairly impolite even for Yorkshire.

Small comfortable lounge bar that has a large array of fizz pumps but sadly no real ale. Good place for a quiet chat. Get a couple of handpumps on guys and the bar will be a lot better for it. We left after one due to the lack of beer despite the fact that the place was very pleasant.
