The Darley is a sprawling roadside Hungry Horse Pub & Grill located to the North of Hessle village centre. This is a family pub so there is a leaning towards food, but I still regard this as a proper pub – even though there is a kid’s area at the left rear with video games etc. For the adults there is a pool table to the right of the bar and another in a ‘public bar’ area in the right rear where there is also a dartboard and large plasma screen. There are actually plasma screens throughout the entire pub for airing Sky Sports. There was no sport on during my recent Wednesday afternoon visit so there was some background music playing. There is a general knowledge quiz every Wednesday evening and on Fridays there is a music quiz. Thursday is open mic night.
The bar is stocked with standard keg products alongside San Miguel and the two supported hand pumps were drawing Greene King’s Old Speckled Hen and IPA. The pub grub is cheaply priced as one would expect from a HH pub.
Being food led this huge pub is surrounded on all four sides by copious amounts of parking. Some picnic tables at the rear stop this pub from becoming an island in a sea of concrete and white lines.
I found the service to be friendly and I would pop in again if passing, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to revisit.

This a large roadside pub well away from the middle of Hessle,it has several different drinking areas which includes a large family dining area there was one real ale on the bar this was Greene King IPA which was a little bit too warm.
