Very interesting place, small but high ceiling and mezzanine balcony. Wood floor, leather sofas in middle of room, long, thin decorative pillars and the bar is along one wall. Attractive pub and 5 real ales & a cider, though the beer quality was average on my visit.

Popped in again this Friday after a meal in town and no real change. Decent pint of Music Hall bitter and space for 5 to sit and chat. keep it up.

A place on the up after some time closed. Now serving a decent assortment of brews, the real asset of this place is it's architecture. A superb vaulted ceiling spans the main room with it's balcony. Food is available to go with your beer and there seems to be a full on music programme, although I have never heard any here. A real must do in the nottingham city area, I will return again and again.

This was an interesting building not far off the Market Square, and used to be a music hall. There was a café side to the bar where all profits were for charity. There were stairs to an upper gallery which was open so patrons up there could look down to the lower floor. We had Brewsters Music Hall and Ringwood Filly Drift from the cask ale selection. Food was being served. It is in the 2013 Good Beer Guide. There were a couple of Glastonbury beers on too.

Quite an interesting place this one and well worth a look in. It is listed on the Nottingham Real Ale Trail guide. I went in looking for some Glastonbury ale, but to no avail, some lucky sod had finished it off. The Brewsters Music Hall, made up for it though as it was a good session beer. Will call again.

Located on a narrow side street off the Old Market Square, this place has a bit of a cafe bar feel to it, with its light and open interior and comfortable, relaxed vibe. The interior is a bit of a surprise because the building is an old music hall and the pub has retained the ornate pillars which support the upper gallery, above which there is a large vaulted ceiling with some big skylights. I didn't venture upstairs but the main bar on the ground floor was very nice, with a wooden floor with the odd glass tile inserted and half panelled walls. There was padded, crescent shaped sofa seating along one wall and an old armchair and sofa in the middle of the room, plus a few other nice looking tables, all of which made for a comfortable stay and the relaxed atmosphere was enhanced with some decent background music.
There were three handpulls at the far end of the long bar counter offering Nottingham EPA, Blue Monkey Ape Ale (£3.10) and Glastonbury Golden Chalice. The tap range included DAB, Krombacher, Liefmans Fruit Beer and Hogan's Cider. My pint of Ape Ale was probably the best beer I tried all day, although it's probably fair to say that it was the most expensive as well. The cafe feel is completed by a selection of cakes available on the bar counter and an extensive tea and coffee list on blackboards behind the bar.
Not a traditional pub in any sense of the word, but I'm glad that I gave this place a try as it's a lovely building and the beer is in great condition. I can imagine this place would suit couples well or perhaps it would work as a compromise venue to go to with non ale drinking friends.

This pub has got a small entrance but it is a lot bigger inside as this place used to be a music hall years ago and it still resembles one with a balcony round the upper part of the pub.
I hav'nt been in here recently but i have read that it has now started selling real ales.
This pub is worth a visit to see the interior.
