E TA left this review about The White Horse

Popular with ramblers and weekend drivers, the White Horse is a small village pub which relies on trade from those visiting the monument after which it is named. That said there is a loyal local cohort who keeps it ticking over. It trades a little on its reputation and feels a bit artificial inside - conversation is stilted and one feels as though asking for service is an imposition; a little lethargy is apparent among the staff. There were three ales on; I had a pint of Donnington Founder's Day. It was an average pint and I had to ask for it to be topped up. I didn't try the food but it looked to be a reasonable price. OK to pop in for a quick drink or include in a tour of the local villages, but I'm not sure I would want to stay here for a whole evening.
