More or less as Soupy penned about except for the ale range is Banks Bitter only at £2.80 a pint.

Lots of trophies and plaques on show and some lovely Liverpool FC memorabilia in the bar including a signed Stevie G shirt and a Liverpool Torres shirt from when he was good.

An end terraced pub, in plain brick with some stone keystones, finials and capitals for the brick pilasters. The paintwork is red and it has a horse entrance along with a small front facing gable. The interior has a couple of rooms but i only saw the front bar area, which is an L-shaped room that curves around the serving bar. There are a few TVs that were showing footy and the music was quite loud. The decor is white and wood panel and lots of trophies and sports pictures decorate. Service was fine and the clientele seemed to be mature locals, who liked a good time. Beer; usual tap stuff with Banks's MILD, Bitter and Tim Taylor Landlord were on handpull (with another unused pull). The MILD was decent enough. As Oggy says, a solid enough locals pub.

Pub is well described in OBs review below , very busy on my Saturday evening visit with lots of banter flying between the locals who were mostly in the front bar area .
Usual keg taps and three handpulls with Banks Bitter and Mild and an OK Hancocks HB , service was friendly enough as were the locals .
This is a good solid locals pub

Near the station but in the unfashionable direction this is a deceptively large Marston’s pub. The counter is set back from the entrance and is three sided with a small face towards the door. This area has bench seating and a lot, and I mean a lot, of darts etc trophies. The main counter is in a middle section and has a set of four pulls serving Banks’s Bitter and MILD plus Hancocks HB the fourth being spare, all the usual kegs are catered for. An indented area to the side is home to a darts board. Beyond this is another even larger room, it has two pool tables, another darts board and a load more seating. Décor is fairly plain but the service is quite welcoming. The clientele was exclusively working class and male when I called in, mainly middle aged and probably postie’s from the sorting office across the road, watching the footie on one or other of the three big screens. Women do use the pub as I saw a ladies Darts team trophy. The ale was in good nick but as its Banks it’s never going to be too exciting.
