If there was a cask offering, I missed it and probably wouldn't have trusted it. Its obviously changed since BF review from 2016.

Made do with a San Miguel.

Spacious pub on split levels, with an awful lot of overhead mirrors angled down at the tables.

Aiming for a younger market but not necessarily achieving that aim.

Well described by BF, below, the former coaching inn is now a reasonable town centre hotel withits bar at the front and restaurant behind. Limited parking is available for hotel residents. Live football was being shown on the TV, while screaming brats were being allowed to run feral by their screaming mothers, giving it the air of a creche in Broadmoor. The staff were very engaging, particularly one young barmaid who was very eager to learn more about beer and how it should be kept. Ales on draft were Doombar, Tribute, Speckled Hen and Bass, plus Old Rosie, while the other 2 handpumps were dry. Beer was in good condition, making this a good place for a crawl or a few un-quiet drinks.

Now called the Globe & Crown ,with it's own entrance yet part of a large hotel,it's really quite grand.Up the steps there is a two sided interior with fine curved banquettes to the raised left side, with the bar running around a rear wall to the right, where there is more seating in banquettes with brittania tables.Carpeted throughout, the flock wallpaper does give a chintzy feel to the interior but it's still a solid drinking venue. The Sky Sports flatscreen was sensibly on mute. There is a seperate hotel reception and a large dining room to the plush interior.
At the bar there are 7 handpumps drawing on my visit Thornbridge Jaipur,Skinners Cornish Knocker,Doom Bar and Titanic Plum Porter (fair but I've had better) with three pulls unclipped.Thatchers Cider is dispensed from a box.
Yeovil is not a town noted for real ale,so it was pleasing to see some leading microbrewers featured here, and for that alone it is worth a revisit. The upmarket interior indicates it's a safe place for a quiet beer as well.

Revisited again yesterday for the first time since 2008 as my previous experience (either lager or lager) put me off. At least they're doing ales now so I may frequent a bit more regularly. Average.
