As described by Jonathan, below, this very pleasant village pub is in a great location, off the beaten track unless you are a railway enthusiast; the East Somerset Light Railway is just around the corner. There is a car park at the back and some more parking at the front, and the garden does indeed present a nice place to sit. We found the landlady very pleasant and welcoming, and the food was plain,well-cooked and most enjoyable, though not the cheapest. Ales on were all Wadworth’s – 6X, Horizon and Henry’s, all tested and found to be in good condition. Definitely worth finding, and a good place to eat or just have a few beers.

An attractive looking long pub in the village of Cranmore, as stated near the ESR and Cranmore Tower which I will visit soon as it seems worth it from further research.

As you enter you are greeted with the choice of two rooms to go into to the left and right. I chose the left which I think was referred to as the lounge but after ordering was referred to the other room where there was the promise of a large fire which didn't disappoint.

This room then opens up further to the right to consume the length of the building seen in the photos and is more suited for dining, however on my lunchtime visit all diners appeared to be in the room I was and the food being served did look very attractive and tempting.

All in all a very pleasant pub experience and while having my pint reading the paper provided by the pub it is certainly a place, especially when sat next to the fire, where you could just sit down and watch the world go by and waste a few hours. By world I mean the ducks waddle across the road and disappear into neighbouring gardens as not a lot else happens which is idyllic.

There were 4 hand pumps with 3 on with bitter and the fourth from a sign on the bar implied Weston's Old Rosie was a regular visitor although not present on day of visit.

What a gem, tucked away in this beautiful part of Somerset. Near to the East Somerset Railway, this lovely Wadworth house is well worth tracking down. An idyllic location, just opposite the village pond, the Strode Arms is a delightful place to halt awhile, sample some great beer and delicious food. The staff were charming, giving the pub a delightful warming greeting as we walked through the doorway. I had some excellent Henry's IPA, and 6X was also on offer.
