E TA left this review about The Cross Keys

Recently re-opened, but it still feels a bit run down, and the decor is tired. This Victorian house stands in its own grounds and has a decent sized car park and a large, but rather scruffy, garden at the back. Inside, the long bar on the left has been turned into a restaurant area, while on the right is a door clearly marked 'Bar'. The latter is a full-depth room with what appears to be a conservatory on the back leading to the garden. The bar has too many tables in, the one nearest the door being especially inconvenient as people keep bumping into those sitting there as they enter and exit. There is a dartboard, though it wasn't usable due to the table next to it, and there was a TV screen which was switched off. It's a basic, cheap town pub, with banter from the locals and a Derby-and-Joan feel overall. Two pumps were clipped Butcombe Original and Doombar, though the Butcombe couldn't be dispensed for some reason. The Doombar was in good condition. Food was traditional pub grub at reasonable prices. OK to pop in when passing.
