A large village pub as described by BrewGuru, below. The front bar has been formed from two older rooms and still has both fireplaces. The construction work has masked most of the original architecture, so the room is fairly bland, its laminate flooring and industrial carpet seeming a bit incongruous. There is also a TV screen. The back room is larger again, and is currently laid out as a restaurant. There is a small car park at the side. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the locals pleasant. Children are allowed in, but it is made clear they cannot approach the bar, while dogs are allowed in the bar but not the restaurant. They run lots of events for the locals including steak nights, live music and games evenings. Two ales on, Bass and Tribute, plus two draft ciders, Jack Ratt and Cornish Farmhouse. Other drinks dispensed were Amstel, Guinness, Taunton Cider, Peroni and Wahrsteiner. It’s far enough from the main road that the grockles don’t crowd in here, but close enough to make it worth dropping in for a drink, though be aware it doesn’t always do food at lunch times.

Visited last night, its a large two roomed village local with passing trade on a minor route out of Chard. Two beers, Otter ale and Exmoor Ale 3.8 % which were in good order but a bit unimaginative as they were both 3.8%, these beers seem to be in every freehouse in this area. Serves food and chips were good portions. Loads of interesting wood carving dotted around the place.
