Now open again after a refurbishment that took four months instead of as many weeks. Without the use of before and after photos, it's hard to say what has been done. The obvious difference is that the hand pumps, previously in two split ranks of six, are now in one long row in the middle of the bar - I made it ten, but may have missed one or two with people standing around the bar. The two beers we tried were in good condition, as always here. A welcome return to Sheffield's city centre real ale scene.

Henrys is a shrine to real ales, loads of pumps on the bar too many to count.
The pub has a single squarish shaped room with the bar to the rear, the seating is a mix of tall tables and stools, bench seating and small tables and stools,we sat at a small table near the bar.
The drink i had was very nice, not sure what it was though.
The pub was packed early Saturday evening with people who enjoyed drinking real ales.

Large, open plan high ceilinged pub. There are gothic internal pillars a learge bar area/standing & bench seating to the glass wndows that fill the walls. large pull down screen, presumably for sports.

There are many good quality real ales

Three visits over 2 days in Sheffield last week. Consistently excellent yet again.

We've called in several times since my last review and this place just keeps on excelling. Called in last Wednesday and had a pint of Brew Company Hop Ripper which I've voted as my Beer Of The Week. The other beers we tried were great as well. There were ONLY 14 of the 15 handpumps going on a fairly quiet Wednesday and yet the beer was still top notch. GBG2013 listed and quite rightly.

Large, two floored modern pub. Large windows and bench seating in the windows, so very girly friendly. There's a long bar down one side with fifteen (yes fifteen) handpumps, thirteen cask ales and 2 real ciders. We called in twice during our weekend in Sheffield. The first time was just as the after work crowd got there, so it was very busy and the large number of staff were struggling to cope. This was probably due to the fact that all the suits wanted to pay with a card and they've only got one machine. The other half liked it though and I was quite happy with the quality & choice of beer so we called in on the Saturday when it was a bit quieter, still quite busy and buzzy though. We'll definitely call in here again next time we're in Sheffield. Yet another good ale bar to add to my already long list.

This large and impressive corner establishment is well worth a look in. We called in on our midweek visit as the pub opened at 12 noon. There were also another couple of customers who had called in for a bite to eat. The barmaid was friendly and we chose the Oldershaws Caskade from their 12 ales on handpump. I'd say this place gets mobbed of an evening.

This large open plan bar has all the hallmarks of a run of the mill wine bar, yet closer inspection reveals this to be a bit of a beer-mecca. The main part of the pub is located opposite the servery and has bare floorboards, high ceilings and a carpeted strip with church pew seating under large front windows. Otherwise, most of the seating is standard tables and chairs, making it ideal for those who want a bite to eat, with a few sofas and pouffes here and there for relaxation. Beyond there is a raised area with mixed seating options and TV screens were showing Champions League football with music playing over the top. To the left hand side of the servery there is a bit more seating in an area dominated by a huge mirror which covers a large portion of the side wall. Various contemporary photos dot the other walls, some of which appeared to be for sale, but otherwise décor is fairly minimal. There is an upper seating area which looks down over the bar and had some comfy looking chairs, but seemed to be closed on my mid-week visit.
On the bar, two rows of hand pumps were dispensing Oldershaw Blonde Voluptua, XT Mellow Amber, White Rose Original Blonde, Long Man Best Bitter, Pheasantry Pale Ale, Brew Co Hop Ripper IPA, Titanic Iceberg, Bass, Henry’s Long Blonde, Double Top Bullseye and Black Sheep Bitter. Two Weston’s ciders occupied a couple more pumps and the keg range included one or two fruit beers. The bar staff were very friendly and chatty and gave me a couple of tasters after my original choice went off. There is a decent menu available and I enjoyed a nice plate of ham, egg and chips, although it was more ham, eggs and potato slabs, but no less tasty for it.
I’ve walked past this bar several times and always thought it would be a fairly pretentious place, but having read ROB’s review below, I decided it was time to give it a try and I’m very glad I did. A nice alternative to some of the more traditional ale houses that Sheffield excels at.

As detailed below, this place is very much open and has undergone something of a transition into what I can only describe as an 'ale bar'. Wood flooring, whitewashed walls and hearty pub food (burgers feature strongly) are in evidence, slightly off the beaten track down the side of John Lewis. Several, well-priced ales were on offer, from Elland, Kelham Island, Abbeydale, Dorset, Acorn and other breweries. Dorset Jurassic at £2.40 went down a treat. As Carl says, not the most charismatic of buildings but a worthy addition to the excellent Sheffield scene - fast outstripping its rivals as the best in the country.
