This Smith & Jones pub is an impressive building from the outside, rather less so inside. It's one narrow room with a dividing archway between what was obviously 2 rooms at one point. In the left hand area there are 2 pool tables, to the right there's a raised seating area. The rest of the pub has dining tables and chairs. There are album covers around the walls and live music is advertised. There are lots of TV screens which were showing music videos which were not the same as the soundtrack that was playing. They sell food and have a speciality of the house where the food is a one pot affair which comes in a dog bowl, obviously aimed at students. There are 6 handpumps on the bar which were all clipped with either Morlands Original or Marston's EPA. The EPA was in decent nick although it's a boring, bland beer and it was only £2.10 a pint. They also have their own discount card (payable) which makes this even cheaper. Definitely aimed at the students from the nearby Uni and I suspect it does well with it's intended clientele. I didn't mind it for one, but I doubt if I'll ever return.

The Graduate is a newish pub that is housed in a grand looking building.
Once insdie there was a large oblong shaped room with the bar facing, there were two pool tables to the left plus one more to the far left on a raised area, the seating was mainly normal tables and chairs.
There were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Abbeydale Moonshine which went down very well, the other bers i noted were Morland Original and Hobgoblin.
The pub was heaving on my Saturday evening visit.
This was my last pub of the day and i was happy enough having a drink here.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Graduate

Imposing building, partly opened out inside to form a 'L'-shaped bar layout. Two pool tables and a small raised seating area at one end. Offers food, with a typical Stonegate menu. The of five nadpumps in operation, with EPA, Morland Original and Abbeydale Moonshine (£2.90) when I visited. Obviously aimed at the student market, and certainly both busy and loud on a Saturday evening.
