Social is firmly on the Silver Street circuit so it probably shouldn't have been a surprise that we were the only customers for the main part of our Wednesday evening visit.
It's clearly set up as a predominantly weekend venue so don't expect anything traditional here. It's a bar rather than a pub with various live music events advertised.
On a quiet evening it was fairly soulless saved by both the energy of the original punk music being played and the excellent Abbeydale Moonshine as the only cask ale available. I'd happily pop back for those two attractions.

One of the few bars in the Silver Street district that doesn't just open at the weekend,the music was being blared much louder outside than within to attract custom on a quiet Wednesday evening.It's very much a bar,with low tables,bench and stool seating with dark recesses and a moody atmosphere,yet devoid of customers apart from us beer drinkers attracted by a promise of real ale.The heart sank at the sight of just two handpumps,one with a real cider,but thankfully the other with Abbeydale moonshine in top condition and proving to be the pint(s) of the night.There are 8 keg taps with some pokey numbers and a large gin selection to boot.
We were also entertained by a selection of tracks from hard hitting punk bands such as The Four Skins and UK Subs spitting out their bile with great energy.Eventually some other (younger) customers turned up and it was time to slope off to the curry house.I enjoyed my trip ,and was surprised by the ale quality,but time your visit here with care,late Saturday evening could be interesting.

There are now two real ales from the Doncaster Brewery. There is also live music with classic rock cover bands on Saturday nights
