l can't comment on their pies as our main visit was to try the Lumphammer beers brewed by Digbrew from Birmingham City Centre. The interior in here was quite quirky with lots of paraphernalia everywhere you looked. There was even sawdust on the floors. I went for the Lumphammer Bitter which was fine and based on an old school recipe, especially brewed for the pub.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Mad O'Rourke's Pie Factory

Famous 'pie factory' pub that it notoriously difficult to get into most evenings (as I have learnt from past experience). However, as I was looking to eat anyway, I took the precaution to book this time... although it actually wasn't quite full as I arrived. Retains two separate bars, separated by a central servery, both full of all kinds of ephemera (but particularly the main one you first enter). I found four of the handpumps on each counter offering a duplicated selection of Lumphammer Brewery beers: Bitter, Gold, Ruby Mild (£3.60, which went down well with my 'Tyson Fury') and the Sledgehammer Pale.

Quirky reminder of the Little Pub Company boozer of the 80s.

This follows the blueprint - nick nacks aplenty and excellent value food.

Failed to get in during the evening due to its popularity but a return afternoon visit and I had the place to myself.

Food served all day.

Beers from the Lumphammer Brewery - now moved to Dig Brew, rather than on-site.

Hasn't altered since 'soup dragon's' review. We had the 2 pie meals for £10, but, whereas the meat was very tender, the minute portion of chips was not enough for a toddlers meal! The service was excellent. The Lumphammer ale was refreshing. The smoking area was up there with the best. I will certainly venture here again (but will order extra chips).

A detached 1920s build in mainly undressed brick, with some garish paintwork in typical Mad O'Rourkes fun style. It is a corner pub/resturant that does accommodation. There is a rear patio. Was part of the MOR chain, but the other two closed the other day, so we visited here to show a bit of support.

The interior is classic MOR - open plan that encircles the central bar area - food is ordered at its own service area. The decor is mainly blue and red ceramic tiles and of course, it is all tables, set up for food. There are lots of pig, kitchen, jugs, pots, pans and old hatchets used as ephemera on the walls and so forth, as well as the sawdust scattered on the floor. There are also old local photos on the walls. We ate, the food being fine, from a 2 for £10 menu. The service was friendly, the place started quite quietly, but did end up being quite busy for a Monday night. Background music was quiet.

Beer; tap stuff, with their own stout and three real ales they do - Lumphammer, Sledgehammer and Ice Pick, all of which are happily drinkable.

Shame that the other places have closed as MOR's - i always thought they were busy enough when i visited. I am sure i will be back here at some point.
