Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Golden Acorn (JD Wetherspoon)

You might expect a 'spoons here, but the associated hotel definitely comes as a surprise since one wonders who might wish to stay in this partial new town? The bar has no distinguishing features, and the small terrace has a fine view of the car park... Only half of the eight handpumps were actually working, and my pint of Strathaven Claverhouse red ale (£1.99) was not in very good form (although this was probably due to sitting in the pipes as other ale drinkers - perhaps unsurprisingly - were hard to spot).

This hotel was part of the original new town of Glenrothes that sprang up in the mid twentieth century. It's conveniently located just around the corner from the bus station. The hotel is a multi-storey block above the ground floor bar and rather resembles an older Travelodge or Premier Inn.
The bar area is generally uninspiring and consists of an open plan L shaped room with the usual furnishings.
There are just two sets of four hand pumps which had two available soon, the Scottish JDW Trio Of Doom, a festival cider, Jennings Snecklifter and Kelburn Misty Law. Happily the festival cider was my favourite from four weeks ago and was going for £1.99.
This one is GBG 2017 listed but that may say more about Glenrothes than anything else.
