Looks good on the outside but a bit uninteresting on the inside. Usual beers plus 3 guests including Black Sheep Special and an English Brown Ale. The food we had was fairly good.

Although this building was once a cinema their is little evidence of it inside which makes me wonder if the interior and especially the roof had been rebuilt before it became a pub. As mentioned below once you have climbed a staircase it's a dull rectangular shed with all the usual furnishings. There was a large TV projector screen which was off putting.
There are ten hand pumps but the choice was abysmal with one unused, one available soon, a festival beer from well over a month ago, the JDW Trio Of Doom doubled up, Brain's Bread Of Heaven and ostensibly Glamorgan Cwrw Gorslas. I asked for this and it turned out it wasn't on. There is nothing more annoying in a Spoons than seeing beers supposedly on that aren't. I asked the barmaid if there was a reason for it showing as being available when it wasn't and as always got no response. For the third time in less than a week I was cornered into drinking the rubbish Bread Of Heaven (£2.29).
I thought this place was a complete waste of time.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Coliseum (JD Wetherspoon)

Very attractive entrance to this former cinema, but the interior to be found once you have climbed a flight of stairs is a disappointingly plain barn. Usual 'spoons furniture and decor. Narrow balcony at the back. Reasonable selection from the ten handpumps, including various local beers such as Thunderbird from the Kite Brewery (£2.25).

Abergavenny’s JDW, converted from an old cinema. Some nice old tiling outside (see pics). Unusually for a Spoons, go up a few steps to enter. This leads to a single open plan room with some ironwork supports crossing the arched ceiling. Fairly nasty interior colour scheme, they really should have done a better job on kitting it out than this though the unusual circular gents were interesting. Understaffed at the bar. Two of the four guest ales off, my Butcombe Matthew was at least in good form. We ate and there were some issues with the food, a companions dish being hot on the outside and freezing cold within (having waited a long enough for it). Disappointing

no lager for me left this review about The Coliseum (JD Wetherspoon)

It's a shame that some of these Weatherspoon pubs are let down by bar staff with a bad attitude. ales are great, with a fantastic price bracket varying from pub to pub, food is mostly hit and miss, depending who's cooking and how busy the pub is. The last time i visited the coliseum, I waited for the family before me to be served, then a young lady who the barman knew turned up, and was served in front of me,as i was about to place my order for 4 pints, another regular turnes up at the bar, the barman looked at me and said "scuse me while i serve him first" needless to say i gave the barman a piece of my mind walked out, and haven't been back since. I go to the hen and chickens instead, to be served by barstaff and owners who appreciate the hard earned cash you are spending in thier pub, and treat you accordingly, rather as an an inconvenience.
