OK on the outside but I always feel it's dingy and grubby around the edges inside - I just never feel it's clean. Usual decent range of well-kept beers and cheap microwave pre-pack food of the chain at cheap prices.

There has apparently been a pub on this site since 1419 however the last Plough & Harrow before Wetherspoons resurrected the name dated from 1903 and was demolished in the 1960’s. The current incarnation opened 2002 and is housed in a modern block shared with a Holiday Inn. That may sound horrendous and, to be honest, this was never one of my favourite Wetherspoons but I have slowly warmed to it on my more recent visits.

The modern interior is rather bland and, like most ‘Spoons, a bit soulless although it is all neat and tidy if a bit departure loungish. The pubs is deceptively large and fully open plan apart from a small separate room at the rear that I have only just discovered despite being here on about a dozen occasions. The glass frontage and sides do let in a good amount of natural light making it quite fresh and airy and it doesn’t suffer from feeling cramped or claustrophobic. There are some modern prints and the usual displays of local information giving a potted history of the area's theatres, buildings and personalities.

Beer wise, there are 10 hand pumps and they generally have a good selection of guest ales alongside the usual suspects. I have eaten here out of convenience on several occasions and never had cause for complaint although service at the bar can sometimes be a bit wanting

The pub is a fair trek from the tube station and far enough out of the way to lose the Apollo crowds so it comes in handy as a meeting place or for a quick couple of cheap pints and quick meal. My visits have always been early evening and getting a table is never a problem. I have also yet to encounter any problematic customers and compared to the William Morris nearer the station, the Plough & Harrow feels like paradise.

Ultra-modern Spoons with a chrome and glass feel. A long and narrow interior has a room at the rear for diners. The bar, broken up at intervals by pillars, is not ideal for getting served in a timely fashion. Talking of the bar, there were plenty of handpumps with a good range of ales on and the two I had were in great shape. The glass frontage overlooking the pavement and main road is a decent place to bag a seat. I was expecting to run the full gamut of dossers given the location but the clientèle were much more civilized than I expected. Ideal if you’re gigging at the Apollo (I was) and I’d be happy to pop in again.

This is a large sprawling Wetherspoons pub with a large glass frontage with views of the main road. There were five ales on during my visit along with the ubiquitous standard draught found in all Spoons.

I found it to be unremarkable and I will drink elsewhere in future.
