Thomas Lloyd is a standard Wetherspoons with a bar counter up the right that faces a row of high tables down the centre and standard seating up the left, which is raised and split into sections by columns and a chimney breast. The usual standard and premium keg was available and the two banks of five hand pumps were drawing Steel and Oak Brewing’s Easy Stout and Adnam’s Ghost Ship alongside a less interesting selection of Ruddles, Abbot Ale and Doom Bar. Service was fine, but it was a boring stop off.

Fairly unremarkable Spoons. A couple of Silhill beers on alongside the usual suspects. My Blonde Star was decent if nothing special.

Typical Wethers. A large open plan place with the bar to your right. 10 handpulls in two banks of 5. A reasonable selection of beers. Outside seating in the market square. It looked promising for the toilets being on the ground floor but alas no.

This place seems to have improved since my visit last year. It seemed less busy this time but there were a lot of people sitting outside. The beer choice was better although there was only one Locale beer. Although the staff seemed better organised there were a few occasions when the bar was understaffed and a queue built up.
I went for and stuck to the Mordue IPA (£2.29) which is a stronger golden ale from the current national list and was in good condition. The standard guest price has been reduced from £2.45 to £2.29.
I ate here as well and had the half of roast peri peri chicken which was a proper half of chicken rather than the quarter poussin I've ended up with in some outlets. The building is still the same but I enjoyed my stay here. Score upped from 4 to 7.

As noted below this Spoons is just a large square room and is fairly typical. The first set of five hand pumps were a total waste of time with the JDW Trio Of Doom and 2 unused. The second set was slightly better with the two GK beers, Hobgoblin, Warwickshire Winter's T'Ale and Prescott Hill Climb. I went for the Warwickshire beer which was cloudy so I sent it back. The barman asked someone else if it had been pulled through while trying again. This was just as bad so I had a Prescott Hill Climb which was clear but not that interesting. Guests here are £2.45 which is on the high side for a Midlands Spoons.
I didn't think much of this one.

A fine building from the outside but don't be fooled.
As every reviewer has noted, this is a shocker of a 'spoons with identikit open plan furniture, offensive and cheap modern art, very little reference to local history and loos up an Everest of a staircase. To add to the atmosphere there was a middle aged couple playing tonsil tennis while standing at the bar.
Beers on were the usual dreaded combination of Abbot, Ruddles Best, Doom Bar and Hobgoblin saved only by a very decent pint of North Cotswold Hung Drawn 'n' Portered. The other bright spot was the friendly and chatty barmaid who served us.
Difficult to find a good reason for a revisit.

A very poor 'spoons. The interior is disgracefully dull in such a historic town at Warwick,it just looks like Tim Martin and his team couldn't be arsed to do anything interesting in what externally is a fine building.Large open plan with pine tables everywhere ,a side section was murky and it was suspiciously quite on a Thursday evening visit.
There may be 10 handpumps but Abbott and Doom Bar were doubled up ,there were numerous "available soon" signs and we were told none of them would come that day, leaving as guests Hobgoblin and North Cotswold Hung ,Drawn and Portered the latter at least being decent and served by a chatty barmaid, probably due to the lack of many customers.
I wont bother in future.

This is a conversion of an old Lloyds Bank. Main room is fairly bland with a number of dividing pillars. Wood panelled conservatory to left rear. Almost everything about my visit was awful; where to start? Staff were all over the place making for an interminable wait at the bar, serving out of order and new staff coming on simply meandering over to the nearest person rather than trying to work out who needed serving next. Two guests on, tried to order both but they were off so ended up with a desperation Abbott which was at least drinkable. Messy interior with uncleared tables and rubbish lying about on the floor. Some real bums as customers, got insulted by some sneering coked-up twerp and his gurning mate. Dire - on a par with the Bright Helm as the worst JDW I’ve set foot in.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Thomas Lloyd (J D Wetherspoon)

Converted from quite a grand old bank building on the Market Place, so I was a bit surprised to find the interior on two slightly-different levels. However, if you look carefully, it does appear that the original structure was extended to one side in a very similar style at some stage in the past. It is also lighter inside than expected, with little of historic interest remaining but the walls are enlivened by some artworks from Coventry Art College students. Also has a few patio tables out front. Disappointingly, only five of the ten handpumps were operational - allowing for duplicates and those 'available soon' - but my pint of North Cotswold Windrush was in good form and great value at just £2.10.

Usual Wetherspoon's with a plain large room and a very disappointing range of real ales.

Large building on the market square rather grand structure, but thats about as good as it gets.

Very standard Wetherspoons layout & only 3 ales & the one I tried, Ruddles Best, was next to undrinkable.

A very poor member of the chain
