A converted, detatched community pub that doesn't really look like a JDW, externally at least.

Inside, its as you would expect.

Hugely busy on a Saturday afternoon, with a cross section of society.

The beer was exceptional.... a rarely seen Enville Blizzard - 6.5% and £2.47.

Can't really fault the place!

This was The Travellers Rest when I used it back in the 80's and early 90's but its original name was The Britannia. When Wetherspoons took it on they reverted to that name. It is a good Spoon's which normally has a decent choice of beers on. Lancaster Bomber, Batemans Rosey Nosey, Castle Rock Winter Melody, Kinver Edge and Half Centurion when I last called. The ones we tried were excellent. Well worth a visit.

what a refreshing change this Wetherspoon bar is. Small enough to feel like a local pub, friendly staff and the beer variety is amazing. 3 regular ales being Abbot, Doom Bar and Exmoor Gold, then 7 changing guest ales from Woods, Castle Rock, Wolf, Boss, Adnams, Robinsons and Slaters and all of them on too. Enjoyed 4 well kept ales from the list. Deserves it's place in the 2019 Good Beer Guide.

A very busy pub on our Saturday lunchtime visit. The interior has a large L shaped lounge area with cream and brown painted walls and a tartan patterned carpet throughout. There were two decent ales on our visit, which were Kinver Khyber and Salopian Golden Thread, prices in here were also reasonable.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Britannia (JD Wetherspoon)

Impressive '50s establishment, since extended and now a 'spoons, but the pedigree does help retention of a 'proper pub' feel. Nothing very remarkable about the furniture and decor, but a notably good selection from the two banks of five handpumps. One of these was reserved for local real ales - with three from Backyard (including The Hoard, £2.15) plus one each from AJ's and Byatt's - and beers including Exmoor Gold and Thornbridge Jaipur available from the other.

Today Saturday the 1st of November I went to the Britannia in Blackheath.
This is a Spoons that was an original pub, a post-war one called the Traveller's Rest. It is now an open plan space that could really be a Spoons anywhere. It had a good selection of half a dozen festival ales on including Strathaven Fiery Cauldron, Harviestoun Old Engine Oil, B&T Hitchin Old Dark, Long Man Golden Tipple and Brewster's Brewers Dozen. I went for the Brewers Dozen (£1.95) which was in such good nick that I had another as part of a Large Mixed Grill which with the 20% CAMRA food discount was just £8.75.
It's not the greatest Spoons venue but the beer is good and cheap plus the 20% CAMRA discount makes the food exceptional value.

Soup Dragon left this review about The Britannia (JD Wetherspoon)

A detached 1950s styled undressed brick Wetherspoons pub and eatery. I believe it was formerlly the Traveller's Rest pub. It has a patio area.

The interrior is an L-shaped open room around the serving bar and is typical Spoons of course, all laid out for dining, with a family eating area in the one corner and a few sofas near the silent TV in another corner. The decor is predominantly pale green and white, with some dark green and the arty bistro style pictures are juxtaposed with a few information boards to the place. The service was good and the place was crammed with the usual mix of clientele for Spoons. We did eat here and the food we had was fine. There was no music.

Beer; tap stuff with the usual Ruddles and Abbots on handpull, with several guests that included; Thornbridge JaipurExmoor Gold and Holden's Golden Glow, which was decent enough, especially for a Spoons.

I always prepare for the worst when going into a Spoons - I go in, as i visit all pubs. This one turned out to be a better visit than i expected - food, beer and service were all there!

This is the local Weatherspoons house - nuff said! Car park across the road - actually its Sainsbury's car park but who cares.
