Oh dear - appalling service and a crap murky pint of Jaipur (NBSS 1.5). A shame as this is usually one of the more reliable Spoons. GBG’23 listed but on this showing they won’t make ’24.

Being a semi-regular visitor to Henley, I usually end up in the Cath and to be fair it has improved a lot in the last five years. The beer quality tends to be consistently good and the service friendly. The interior and garden did have a minor (but welcome) spruce-up a while back too. Noted below that I mentioned the Henley Brew House (deceased) and the refurbished Victoria (didn’t last long). So even by default, it’s a riser in the pecking order. Rated 7

Even Henley can’t escape the omnipresence of JDW, and the Cath is one their pub/hotel efforts. A great big barn of a place (ex-coaching inn), with - confusingly - a bar on either side of the huge room (which both stock different beers). Whilst the beer here is the cheapest in Henley the choice is haphazard and the quality fairly indifferent; some days good, some days terrible. The interior is very dark and dim which can make the place feel rather soulless. There's a rudimentary beer garden out back for the smokers and oddballs. Otherwise it's the usual 'Spoons. Pop in and see what's on, but be prepared not to linger (unless you want cheap food). With the new Henley Brew House and the refurbished Victoria, there’s more competition these days. Rated 5

According to the JDW directory this place is a Hotel and a Lloyds. I'm sure the residents here must appreciate that a lot in the early hours of a Friday or Saturday night. It's a huge rectangular space with bars on the left and right as you enter. The ceiling is low and there are some beams that look original but the overall feel is of a fairly cheap modern conversion. The left bar has two sets of three hand pumps with three unused on my visit leaving just GK IPA, the International Everard's Inbetween and Bingham's Minstrel. The right hand bar was a complete waste of time with just three hand pumps selling GK IPA & Abbot and Doom Bore.
I went for the Bingham's Minstrel (£2.65) which was perfectly drinkable but that's about it. I arrived here at around 11:00 and noted that breakfasts here are a whopping £4.49 which is £2.00 dearer than my local outlet and £1.50 dearer than the usual price. Other food items were roughly 50p to £1.00 dearer than normal. The standard guest ale price is £2.45 which is on the expensive side but not unusually so.
I thought this was a pretty rubbish Spoons and thankfully not very typical.

Stayed here from Sunday 22nd of July for 3 nights like all Wetherspoons Accommodation second to none for the price much better than a lodge and a lot cheaper/ Its a spoons what you see is what you get cheap food but theres always a good range of hand pulled beers yes the bar service is poor in a lot of them and this one is no exception one Girl serving and four in the glass wash yapping. But its still worth a look in the outside seating area is ok and well kept

A very large Wetherspoon's hotel that is a bit dark and dingy in some parts.Has a fair range of local real ales but as in so many of their pubs the service leaves a lot to be desired.
