Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Liquorice Gardens (JD Wetherspoon)

The town's branch of Wetherspoon's doesn't look much like one from the outside, but once you step through the threshold, it has the usual 'spoon's open-plan layout, albeit with ground floor toilets.

Regular beers here are Greene King IPA & Abbot & Sharp's Doom Bar. Although, it appeared that the Abbot & Doom Bar could have run out. I didn't enquire, as I had no intention of drinking them! 3 guest beers were Bradfield Farmer's Brown & Farmer's Stout & Milestone Cromwell Gold. Also of note was the availability of real cider - Thatcher's Stan's Big Apple, this being one of only 2 pubs in the town we found serving a real cider. For this, it does at least deserve some credit in my book.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Liquorice Gardens (JD Wetherspoon)

Unusual building.... but otherwise unremarkable once you get inside. Small side patio garden. Greene King IPA and Abbot, Bradfield Blonde, Cromwell from Milestone and Pheasantry Dancing Dragonfly (£2.15) available from the two banks of five handpumps.

I couldn't uncover any previous use of this building so possibly it was a new build. Inside it's fairly unremarkable consisting of an open plan rectangular room with the bar on the left and a paved patio to the right. The furnishings are fairly typical.
The bar has two sets of five hand pumps which had two taken up with adverts for their quiz, the IPA version of the JDW Trio Of Doom with Abbot doubled, Little Critters C Monster, Grafton Apricot Jungle, Milestone Best and London Pride. I went for the C Monster (£2.39) which was in good nick.
It's not the greatest Spoons but it's OK.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Liquorice Gardens (JD Wetherspoon)

The Liquorice Gardens looks like a new build Spoons that is fairly close to a street where all the buses stop.
Once inside there is a fairly long room with the bar to the left there were tall tables and chairs close to the bar and normal tables and chairs to the rear there was also a large TV showing the England v Belgium game 1-0 to England at time of visit.
There were around 10 pumps on the bar with a decent choice of guest beers i had a drink of Bradfield Farmers Blonde which was a very nice drink the other beers i noted were Youngs Special,Milestone Cromwell bitter,Abbot x2 and Ruddles bitter.
The pub was fairly busy and i was happy enough having a drink in here.

Clean and tidy Wetherspoon outlet serving beers from their festival. Chose a foreign beer and Wadworth Octoberzest, both in good condition.
