Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Nightjar (JD Wetherspoon)

Situated in a fairly uninspiring - but presumably relatively prosperous, given the number of estate agents - shopping area, this 'spoons doesn't look much from the street. However, the converted supermarket interior is lighter inside than expected and benefits from a reasonably high ceiling. Also has a good number of display panels, historical B&W photographs and local interest pictures. Mix of furniture inside plus a collection of wooden picnic benches out front. Surprisingly good selection of keenly-priced real ales from the two banks of six handpumps, e.g. Robinson's Red & Black Trooper (£1.99).

The Nightjar is a JDW set in a modern shop building with a branch of Wilko as its neighbour. It's not that large a Spoons consisting of a plain square room with the bar on the right and a raised area on the left. At midday on a Thursday most of the punters were older folk or shoppers. There is no upper area or basement so the toilets are at ground level which is a plus point.
For a smaller Spoons twelve hand pumps is a lot but there was only the GK IPA doubled up then a cider, Abbot and eight festival beers.
I went for the Arundel Coffee Milk Stout (£2.59) which was in excellent nick but on the higher price side for a JDW.
Overall I thought this was a pretty good Spoons.

A modern JDW in the town centre, though slightly shabby in places due to the age and quality of the fittings, but overall one of the better JDWs if a little souless. Eight pumps on the bar were on, but two of these were Christmas beers so you have to wonder how long they'd been on. I played safe with a pint of Ringwood Best which was in good condition and most enjoyable. Didn't try the food so can't comment. It was good to meet another PuG regular in there who was a mine of information about other local pubs, PuG history and much else besides. Sadly I was driving, otherwise I would like to have had a few more here. I'm sure I will be back.

A large town centre pub that used be a small supermarket and still has a somewhat barn-like interior. The car-park is remote and not very big. Inside the place is clean and tidy, although the fittings and furnishings are over 10 years old now
The food is typical JDW although there is evidence of a more careful approach to preoaration than some I've used. There are typically eight real ales available and the quality does vary, with some beers moving more slowly than others and perhaps hanging around too long. Changing a duff pint is never a problem. Lager, wine, sprits, bottled beers, are all available as one might expect.
It is a trouble-free pub, although it does have it's rowdy element. The staff are pretty good, although the pub is often woefully undermanned, especially at lunchtimes.
All in all a better than average JDW by quite a long way, one that I can thoroughly recommend.
On the basis of 10 years frequent usage I rate it 8 stars, at it best it's worth more..........
